Whole Food Basics

Before you change how you eat, it helps to know what the words on the package actually mean. This collection covers the foundations: what counts as a whole food, how food scientists classify processing levels, how to read an ingredient list without a chemistry degree, and which label claims are regulated versus pure marketing. We keep the explanations plain and the sourcing transparent. Where a claim rests on an established framework — like the NOVA processing classification or USDA labeling rules — we say so and explain it in ordinary language. Where the evidence is genuinely unsettled, we tell you that too, instead of pretending certainty.
