Sticky Pork Spare Ribs

Sticky Pork Ribs
I have a confession to make…. I am so obsessed with pork that it is ridiculous. If I see pork on a menu I have to order it, I love the flavour, texture & how it is usually teamed with a sweet ingredient such as apple.

I saw these pork spare ribs at the butcher today & I could not leave with out buying a kilo. I made this recipe up as I went & it turned out amazingly well. The pork is soft & falls apart with a crispy sticky skin. Perfect! The key is slow cooking, so be warned you do need time to create this recipe, but it is worth it!

INGREDIENTS

1 kg or 8 pork spare ribs
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon coconut aminos (or fish sauce)
2 tablespoons of honey
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
1/4 teaspoon spoon chilli flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon on sesame seeds

DIRECTIONS

  1. Turn the oven on to 150c/300f degrees
  2. Place the pork spare ribs on oven tray/dish & put in the pre-heated oven for 1 hour
  3. Turn the pork spare ribs at around 40 minutes into the cooking time
  4. Mix together the crushed garlic, coconut aminos, honey, paprika & optional chilli flakes
  5. After 1 hour remove the pork from the oven & brush on the mixture onto the side facing up
  6. Place back in the oven for 10 minutes
  7. Remove the pork from the oven again & turn the pork over. Brush the honey mixture on the other side of the pork ribs & sprinkle the sesame seeds over the pork ribs
  8. Place the pork ribs back in the oven for a further 10 minutes until the sauce goes sticky
  9. Remove from oven & enjoy with a lovely salad

We made this tonight. It was delish! My husband loved the glaze and wants to try using it as a marinade next time.

It doesn’t seem that long…am I reading the recipe correctly? I read it as 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Yes that is right. You could cook them longer at a lower heat if you like.

Made this tonight. Delish with just 1 tsp of Honey (we follow a LCHF diet), other ingredients as per recipe with a bit more chilli powder. Yum!!
