It has been a very busy, but very exciting time for me with the launch of Real Food Pledge. As part of the celebrations I had a book launch to properly welcome Real Food Pledge to the market place. The book launch was held on a roof top deck with views overlooking Surfers Paradise, it was a truly spectacular and impressive location that set the scene for a great party.
Over 80 guests were invited to the launch to preview the book and enjoy a delicious real food extravaganza. As the guests arrived they could view the book along with some example dishes which were created by the Chef from Budget Gourmet. I was so excited to see my recipes created to perfection!
The guests enjoyed canapes which were recipes from the book made into bite size nibbles. They included sweet potato hashies topped with smashed avocado and salmon, chilli lime tacos, coconut Thai pumpkin soup and coconut and pork meatballs. I loved seeing my recipes adapted to for a cocktail party. The caterers were so impressed with my recipes that they said that they are going to adopt a few of them for their regular menu. That was a wonderful compliment!
Helen the MC did a wonderful job introducing the book, she then handed me the microphone and I spoke about my real food pledge journey and how I came about publishing Real Food Pledge the book. I shared with the guests a couple of funny stories, what was inside the book and thanked all the clever people involved in the creation of the book. Cameron, my husband jumped on the microphone to congratulate me and he gave me huge bunch of the most amazing flowers, which completely took me by surprise.
The guests could purchase a book or two that evening and I signed the books like a ‘real’ author, which was a lot of fun. This is me signing the books like a real pro!
When the speeches were over all the guests enjoyed mini desserts which were all created from recipes in the book. I prepared the desserts earlier in the day with the help of a couple of lovely friends. The guests enjoyed triple chocolate bliss balls, lime and coconut bliss balls, red velvet brownies and mini raw carrot cakes. Everyone was so eager to try the sugar, gluten and dairy free treats that they started to eat the display plates!
The feed back was that the guests loved the food and I must say it was so nice to go to a cocktail party where the food is healthy and delicious.
The evening was a huge success and we even made it into the local Gold Coast Bulletin in the social pages, that was the sugar-free icing on top!
If you would like a copy of Real Food Pledge you can purchase the book as either a print copy or a e-book version right here. Or if you live in Australia, print copies are also available at QBD book stores.
